Lemon Lime Slime Mocktail

This drink captures that in-between feeling of the season — when our bodies crave hydration or something light after a stretch of heavy foods and shifting routines. The air starts to feel crisper, yet the afternoons still hold a trace of warmth. It’s a time for refreshing instead of rushing.

The blend of cucumber, lime, and a touch of spirulina gives this mocktail a signature green hue with this sweet & fresh flavor. The addition of lemon balm syrup softens the edges to balance the citrus, and adds in a calm sweetness. It’s simple yet a little playful, and meant to bring that steady energy we often need as we move through the seasons.

Why it works wonderfully

  • CUCUMBER -> Although cucumbers are mostly made up of water (about 95%), you may be shocked by the potential benefits found in this watery snack. It contains electrolytes of potassium and magnesium which add to the hydrating effect. They may be low in calories, but they are packed with nutrients like important vitamins K and C. They also contain several lignans which our gut bacteria convert into mammalian lignans that can be beneficial to inflammation and even hormone regulation. Compared to flax-seeds it is a low concentration, but cucumbers have more of a variety in nutrients! The mucilage or sliminess of cucumber can also act as a demulcent and soothe inflamed tissues.

  • COCONUT WATER -> Coconut water is also full of potassium and essential electrolytes, adding more hydrating benefits. It is helpful for after strenuous activity to help balance water levels in the body.

  • HONEYDEW -> Honeydew is one of my personal favorites. I had the affinity to add this in last second before my event, and it entirely transformed the flavor. Honeydew is also high in water content and electrolytes, complimenting our other ingredients.

  • LIME JUICE -> Lemons and Limes are both a significant source of Vitamin C which helps support your skin and immune system. Vitamin C can also enhance iron absorption.

  • PINK HIMALAYAN SALT -> Add a pinch for extra minerals, contains more iron and potassium. You could also opt for celtic salt which contains more magnesium and calcium.

  • LEMON BALM SYRUP -> This delicious syrup was a sweet and earthy addition with some added benefits. Lemon balm is uplifting and one of my favorites to share with others which is why I added it for my event. This is a sugar free syrup: Click here for Recipe or Other Recipes to the right.

  • LOCAL HONEY -> Honey is antioxidant and antibacterial. It has been used for years in wound healing applications and as an immune supportive. The antioxidant content can vary based on flowers and pollinators, etc. Also added vitamins and minerals in smaller amounts.

Combined together these ingredients make a skin supportive, replenishing and re-hydrating mocktail. Enjoy with some wiggly worms for Halloween, or try it for support after your large Holiday meals.

About Me

making the mocktail

You’ll need:

  • Chopped Produce

  • Pre-made Lemon Balm Syrup

  • Cloth Satchel or Other Straining method

  • Large Blender + Separate container

Instructions

(1) BLEND BASE: Blend up your cucumber with coconut water and lemon juice and strain into separate container. You could also toss some fresh mint leaves in for a bit of fresh flavor infused. I also added the pinch of spirulina before straining if you are choosing to do that for color.

(2) HONEYDEW BLEND: Puree your honeydew in your blender. You can blend it with the lemon balm syrup and then strain, or add in the syrup after you strained. Once strained, blend everything together once more. I didn’t have quite enough room so I switched between containers to blend everything.

(3) SWEETEN: Add in your honey to taste. Since this is a cold drink the honey can be hard to get fully blended in. You can combine your honey with some warm water to create like a syrup to help it blend better if preferred. This is especially helpful if you are using something like whipped honey.

(4) SERVE: Simply garnish with some citrus slices and gummy worms. The drink tends to be frothy due to our ingredients, you can scoop that off if preferred or leave it and throw some worms on top for a fun effect.

(5) KEEP: This makes around 4 cups so you can drink it throughout the week. I would toss after 3-5 days.

“A note on our ingredients

This “slimy” recipe was designed for my in person mocktail event. Each ingredient is chosen with intention, but you can easily substitute or add herbs to fit what you have on hand. While originally crafted with skin and re-hydration in mind, this mocktail serves as a cortisol companion. Often, remedies like these are only remembered when symptoms arise, yet making this a regular part of your wellness routine keeps you prepared and calm. Consider playing around with different mocktails once a week, find the flavor that really fits you.

<PAIRING TIPS>
