Why this will be your new spring drink of choice.

Spring Bloobs is the perfect drink to enjoy during the spring transitions. This blend is fresh and fruity with a natural sweetness that creates a well rounded, smooth flavor. Some may notice notes of spice while others enjoy the hints of mint.

A sun tea is great for infusing your drinks as it starts to warm up. Simple instructions are below, and many delicious blends taste that much better when sat in a warm sunny window. Caution is always advised when consuming anything new, especially if you have allergies. Simply throw the strained drink in the fridge and enjoy an extra refreshing sip.

This is my current favorite blend I have crafted so far, many folks that don’t tend to drink tea have thoroughly enjoyed the taste.

Lets Talk Ingredients

<General Information, Educational Purposes

Blueberries are a delicious snack, but did you know they also make a lovely drink infusion!

I used freeze-dried Organic berries and Spearmint to impart a natural sweetness. Holy basil has a natural licorice like flavor which some may notice as a slight spiciness, although I find it quite mild.

Finally the Lemon Verbena adds a citrus-y element to brighten up the spring vibes.

OTHER BLENDS:

- Another blend I tried was with Chamomile instead of Holy Basil, I also really enjoyed that! The Chamomile can get a bit bitter though, so not every taste palette will enjoy as a sun tea.

All the herbs I use are sourced ethically and sustainably. I source organic and support locals.

  • Blueberries (freeze-dried): Source linked below along with studies. Blueberries are linked to positive effects or improvements in vascular support, systemic and metabolic health.

  • Lemon Verbena: View links for more information. Relaxing effects observed on intestinal smooth muscle may be useful for overactive GI systems. Anti-inflammatory effects aid in exercise recovery and pain relief.

  • Holy Basil Tulsi: Also supports metabolic health and adds more anti-inflammatory action. Added support for cognition and stress. (Sourced from Apotheosis)

  • Spearmint: Standout studies on hormonal balance, especially androgen modulation. Overall cooling and calming to digestion. May offer cognitive clarity, pairing nicely with Tulsi.

Step by Step Instruction

(1) DECIDE: The first step with many things, is to step back. Reflect on what you want to get out of this drink and then find your method of infusing. See my Tea vs. Tisane blog to learn more about infusing!

(2) INFUSE: This is my suggestion for Spring Bloobs. Find your vessel of choice, like a big jar to set in the window. Use 3-4 Tbsp or 8-10 bags to get a strong flavorful infusion, best for fruity fresh teas like this. Add herbs and fill with water, slightly warm. Let the jar sit in your window for at least 8 hours, or all day while the sun is shining.

(3) STRAIN: At the end of the day, strain your tea leaves out and compost. You could even throw the bigger berries back in to nibble on after drinking. Enjoy the sun tea warm, and refrigerate any leftovers to enjoy as refreshments throughout the week. If you prefer cold drinks, place in refrigerator immediately after infusing.

(4) PERSONALIZE: Play with different infusion techniques and herbal amounts. Play around with making magical lemonade mixing half with half the cold infusion.
